libusb and Windows.

Well lets just say, my past day and a half, have not been great at all.

I attempted to install a library, for windows, called libusb.  Little did I know, that libusb did not support Windows.

(it came in a package that I downloaded, so I figured what the heck, it should work..)

So I installed it, everything was going great, until it started “Loading libusb kernel” and my USB devices shut-off, completely.

No USB port was receiving power, no device would get power from it, no matter how simple! (Not even my USB LED light!)

So I was pretty much “oh crap..”, everything just stopped working. No input would work, and stupid me had thrown away all my PS/2 keyboards and mice, so I was stuck.

Bluetooth of course stopped working, because the mediahub/BT hub on the front of my XPS is actually USB powered (thanks Dell).

Safemode, loaded the driver.

So my options were to try Safe mode, with command prompt.. or use my Vista Ultimate DVD for Recovery Mode.

Thank god that Safemode with command prompt worked.

cd C:/Windows/System32
del libusb0.dll
cd drivers
del libusb0.sys

Restart, and fixed!

Thankfully I had a second computer available and Google!

Interesting day though.

Lesson learned, before installing drivers, check!
